Reception Transitions September 2021

Thank you for choosing Hale Nursery & Primary Academy for your child. We aim to take every child in our care on a most wonderful educational journey and one which will nurture their talents and provide the skills and experiences to last a lifetime. The moment your child enters our Reception Class/School they (and their families) become part of the wider Hale family and become part of a school that is built on commitment and togetherness. We have high aspirations for all the pupils and believe that the education of our children is a shared responsibility between home and school. We are thrilled that this year we can offer you a more normal transition process into school as outlined below.

In order that we have up-to-date contact details and permissions for your child, please can you complete the enclosed admissions forms and return them to the school office as soon as possible, along with a copy of your child’s birth certificate. We encourage all parents to complete and return the Free School Meal Eligibility & Pupil Premium Application Form as this information could affect the funding we receive. Our breakfast and after-school club, The Haven, is run by the school. If you would be interested in your child accessing this from September, please visit our school website: https://www.hale.kite.academy/parents/hale-breakfast-club/ for more information.

New to Reception Meeting

We look forward to meeting you at the New to Reception meeting on the evening of Tuesday 22nd June 2021. We will be holding 2 sessions on this day at 4pm – 5pm or 6pm – 7pm. These will be held in the Main School Hall. Here you will get an opportunity to meet the teaching team and to look around the classrooms, as well as receiving your induction pack. We envisage the meeting lasting approximately an hour. Please note, this meeting isn’t appropriate for children. You will need to sign up for the session that you would like to attend by accessing the following form:

Stay and Play Sessions

Following on from this we are holding stay and play sessions on Friday 3rd September 2021.

Either
Session 1: Friday 3rd September 2021 10am - 11am or
Session 2: Friday 3rd September 2021 1pm - 2pm

This is an invaluable opportunity to allow your child to begin to familiarise themselves with their new classroom and to meet the teaching team. When you arrive at the school, please report to the main office where you will be directed to your Reception classroom. Parents will not be staying for the session, however there will be an opportunity for you to talk to the staff at pick-up time. You will need to sign up to your preferred session by accessing the form above.

If your child currently attends our Nursery on this day, please bring them into Nursery as normal and the Nursery staff will escort them to their session. You will not need to book them in for a Stay and Play session.

Teams Meetings

Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer Home Visits this year, but will instead be offering Teams calls with your child’s teacher. There will be an opportunity to book these at the New to Reception Meeting in June. These will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2021.

Starting School

In September we operate a staggered start for all Reception children. This ensures that every child has a smooth transition into school. Please see the details outlined below:

Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th September 2021 9am - 12pm (lunch not included)
Wednesday 8th September 2021 9am - 1.30pm (staying for lunch)
Thursday 9th September 2021 9am – 3.30pm (staying for lunch)
Friday 10th September 2021 9am – 3.30pm (staying for lunch)

Your child will then start full-time on Monday 13th September 2021. The normal school day starts at 8.55am (gates open from 8.45am) and the end of the day is 3.30pm. Please be aware that this is COVID dependent.

This will also be the children’s first experience of eating lunch at school. Hot meals are free of charge for all children in Reception year under the Government Universal Free School meals scheme. We encourage all children to take up this offer which represents a saving of approximately £400 a year. All lunches need to be booked online using our online booking system, which allows you to choose the option that your child would like for each day. More information will come home when your child joins us in September.

We very much hope that you are able to attend the meeting in June and we look forward to welcoming your child in person at the stay and play session.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Freeman
Academy Head
